Help, just been up to allotment only to find some of my radish are White in amongst Red ones..have I not speared them out enough when they were seedlings? Or is it something more sinister..and there's lots of leaves on them which I assume is from from above instead of ground level. Please help.

      Pardon?

Take a deep breath, count to 10 and try that again please
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

I think what Guykp is saying is there are some white radishes amongst the red ones, it is because they weren't thinned (speared?) out.
If this is what the post is about then the answer is the white radishes are just from a rogue seed in the packet. If you watch Beechgrove they had an odd one too last week.
If that's not the question I have no idea either.

I am sure the white radish are ok to eat Guy. If you eat the thinnings as you go then you sort two birds with one stone

              I'd eat them anyways.

What variety of radish did you sow? I'm growing Rainbow radish that come in all shades of white pink and red. All perfectly edible

Probably just mixed seed in the packet... either by mistake or it was a collection?

(im not much help with the whites ones), i dont thin mine out/well i do kind-off, i first try and plant the seeds evenly and then always pickout the largest ones first giving the smaller ones time to grow on. Having read what ive just typed, i bet everyone does this.

I like the idea of spearing them, bit like fly-fishing but for your veg. Let us know if the white ones taste any different guy?
