Strangely enough I went up to plot on Tuesday morning before work as I didn't need to start till later that day. I never normally get a chance to get up that time during the week.

I spotted a fellow grower helping himself to strawberries from my neighbours plot. I can understand the dilemna as I'm friendly with both. Apart from saying hello - I couldn't face speaking to him and he left rather sharpish.

I will speak to my neighbour about it the next time I see him - they might have an agreement as he does grow an extraordinary amount of strawberries.
.......because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)

I'm quite surprised by all of this, I spend a little time once a week wandering around other plots seeing what they are upto, I like seeing other peoples answers to the age old problems (drainage, pests, etc)

I'd never take anything off another persons plot, I quite often get the hose out if something looks like its suffering on plots and I haven't seen them about for a while.

I was chatting to a lady last night on my way back from the plot who was picking gooseberries on a plot, in a passing comment I said 'rather you than me', meaning I couldn't eat a raw gooseberry, she responded saying that the plotholder had said to help herself and she didn't need telling twice.

It makes you wonder how often you say something in passing and it becomes an open invitation if you are not careful.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Put it all in triplicate and then there's no confusion.

one of our neighbours has told us to help ourselves to his strawberries, but I don't like to as how it would look to other people, its ok if he is there, but otherwise I wouldn't touch them.

I only ever take something if the plotholder is there and they have asked me to. We do have a bench by the gate where excess can be left though - that's fair game! LOL we also have a nail in the tree by the horse poo pile where you can leave bags of stuff for the horse poo lady!
