Would welcome any opinions on what has caused damage to strawberry plants as in attached pics.? Has also caused damage to adjacent rhubarb plants - some of these had red areas in vicinity of the brown edges.

Could they be drying out/too dry Shen?
Looks a bit like scorch to me...has happened some of my strawberry plants too...Last edited by Tripmeup; 26-06-2013, 05:04 PM.I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

I'd say they were on the dry side too, Shen - with the rhubarb, the older leaves (lower the the ground) do start getting a bit manky as the season progresses. Nothing to worry about, I don't think. What's the rest of the clump looking like?
The strawbs are likely just to be a bit dry too - the only slight note of caution is on the close up pic of the strawb leaf - is that grey patch to the right looking a bit like botrytis? You might do well to improve the air flow through the strawb patch by combing through and clipping away of all the dry/old leaves underneath and round the plants.

Thanks for your quick response guys - not my plot nor my strawberries - any views on possibility of glyphosate drift? pictures don't really show the total damage on the strawberries too well and the majority of the rhubarb plant leaf damage had been stripped before I got the opportunity to take the pic.
My strawberry plants are only a couple of allotments away and, apart from slugs helping themselves to the fruit - arghhhh where did I put those blue pills - are looking fine and healthy as are all the others in the vicinity apart from the adjacent plot where a handful are starting to show signs of leaf curling but these are under environmesh and this may have provided some protection resulting in any damage being minimised ???Last edited by Sheneval; 26-06-2013, 05:34 PM.Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary
