  • Calling Sedgefied growers

Hi, i have finally after two years been told i can now have an allotment - i am so excited as feel like i have been waiting so long.

My problem now is this: there are two allotment sites in Sedgefield and i have been told that there is spaces in both available now. I am not sure if i can pick as the lady at Council isnt in the office for a couple of days but if i can i am trying to figure out which is the best site.

I have been trying to find who (if anybody) is the Allotments Manager or a group who may be able to advise me but cant seem to find anyone???

Well done, Kimbo - how exciting! Welcome to the Vine.

I would imagine that you can choose, BUT if there are a number at each site, there maybe quite a few people who have been invited too. The council won't give a flying fig who has what plot, so I suggest you get yourself down to both sites toot sweet to have a recce so you can 'bag' the one you like the look of!

Even if they are locked sites, you can probably find someone down there at tea time/evening watering in this weather.

I'd suggest that you look beyond 'overgrown' when you are trying to choose - all untended plots will be wild at this time of year - but look at shelter/slope/water source etc.

If you can take pics and put them up here, we'll all be happy to pitch in with our two penn'th!

Yes, def. you need to get yourself down to the sites and get someone to let you in for a look. Explain the situation and I'm sure they'd be happy to show you round and give you the low-down. They want someone who is keen and wants to get stuck in.
