The allotment manager has took it upon herself to enter or allotment into a competition and it got me thinking why?
As the allotment had fallen into dissuse in previous years we have been working hard just to clear away all the rubbish and get it presentable. Then it occured to me to ask why the site has been entred?
before I explain the why a side note over the past two weeks all the allotment holders have been working on clearing weeds and making their plots look presentable we are even discussing how to work in order to bring some mini plots into use for new members should we get any and I have agreed to do a site plan showing how the current vacant plots can be split into smaller managable sections.
Anyway to the why. The site has been entered obviously so we can as individual plot holders attempt to win best plot which I have no hope of winning which I don't mind but also we are going for the title most improved allotment in Manchester which we feel we should win but hey who knows.
The judging will be done this Friday comming and if nothing else it has been good to see all the members get into the spirit of things.
Fingers toes and eyes crossed as the site manager will feel totally demoralised should we not at least get most improved allotment.
