hi all thinking of making a veg cage timber frame 6+6 looking at coveringit with debris netting anyone used this netting amd is it any good

  • #2
Yes crannman, it's very good. Easy to staple to timber, has got good stretch properties. Some folks sow the holes up but I didn't bother...............Oh, & it's cheap as well...........
    P.S.
If poss, turn them upside down in winter if not in use as a the weight of heavy snowfall will stretch the netting never to return....................failing that, make an apex top so the snow falls off.

Won't you need to let pollinating insects in, somehow?

Edit: misread it as fruit cage.

            Veg Cage

Hi Crannman, the veg cage is an excellent idea we have 2, 12'L x 10'W x 6'H covered in debris netting, this is our 4th year using them and would never go back to anything else.
            See pics .

We move them each year, there are 6 beds that size and the cages are moved forward each year for rotation. The roof section has added cross members inserted in winter to take the weight of any snow, we also go up the lottie if it snows heavily and brush the snow off. They are also staked/tied down so will not blow away.
