My own instinct is not to use chemicals .
Though have to be realistic , I have used them as last resort .
I prefer these forums for advice and search the Internet for a solution
Than reach for the garden spray .

That's the PDF link you get from google results for:

I don't mean to start a row - but would like some suggestions for dealing with the one that's going to happen soon on our site.
We have someone who thinks weedkiller is bad and other people who are going to use it near his plot.

The way I look at it is this:
Using chemicals is a decision that you make and as such, your use of chemicals can only do one thing and that is destroy someone else's crops. Your use of chemicals should therefore be limited to your plot if that's the way you want to go. As as adult you should be able to cope with other people not using chemicals. You should be able to take enough precautions that your destruction is limited to your plot only.
Not using chemicals is a decision that you make and but likewise, your non-chemicals can't waft onto other people's plots and make them better. So you also have to respect that other people do use chemicals.
The path; sit down as adults and agree on a strategy. Dig it over, sow grass seed and take turns in mowing. Take turns in hoeing. Get down on your knees and take turns in weeding. Pave it together - Whatever. If you really can't respect your neighbour's views then you should down tools and go home.

Certainly, weed killer is often sprayed and drifts onto other people's crops. And weedkiller does not discriminate; it will kill weeds and plants alike. Some kill everything except grass. Nice.
I can see why you don't understand an organic gardener; most people who use chemicals don't think they affect other people but they do. Often because of 'wind'. Or just absentmindedness. Or nastiness. Or laziness. Or a myriad of other reasons.

There is that implication that we're lazy again *shakes head* if we ever resort to using a sprayThere's no need to get personal, just accept that some people don't do things in the same way as you
I respect the way others choose to do things and as long as my gardening methods don't affect their crops, then I expect to be left to my own thing as well. You can spray carefully without affecting other people's plots - just because some people aren't careful, please don't assume we're all the same.

Just because you are lazy and want immediate results; doesn't mean we all work like that.

My personal preference is not to use any of these chemicals on or near to the stuff that I eat though.
My bugbear as allotment Secretary is folk who spray there plot with glyphosate in the spring, grow a miniscule amount of veg through the summer then spray it again late summer autumn, not to be seen on site again until its ready for another spraying in the spring. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

I'm more than happy to be educated - why else would people use weedkiller if it's not preferable to getting on their hands and knees and weeding?
