I suppose ideal would be the same size as your plot/garden, with a glass roof

The shed will be used for storing tools and bags of compost which I tend to hang on till the end of the season when supermarket sell them cheap and of course to stretch out and relax.

Depends how much space you have. I have four sheds for example.

About two feet bigger all round than the one you eventually buy

You are not thinking big enough bud

Absolutely Huge plus an uncovered storage area the same size would be the definitive answer

Ahhh AND if you make the roof of the shed AND the roof of the covered storage area blend into each other, with only the shallowest of pitches you could get Hooooge amounts of stuff growing in pots & tubs & dustbins on top, maximise you growing AND storage areas to the limit

............and if the shed has a lift-up floor, you can store tools there and keep all the floor space for the hammock, kettle and stove.

Aside from the kettle my "shed" has mains water, mains electric, stereo radio & television but very little usable floorspace due to the accumulation of "handy stuff"

Work out what you need and then get the next size up, probably will still end up being to small.
