Strawberry

I have some runners from my strawberry plants which I bought from Asda, do I move them into my greenhouse. I live in Devon so the winters can be mild.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago, I was told they are as tough as old boots and will be better off outside. I have started all mine in 5 inch pots and they are outside where they will die back and come back in the spring for planting in the beds. I may put a few in the green house next spring if i have room because they did so much better than my outside ones.

My strawberries are left outside all year round including the runners.

I leave mine outside all year round with no problems

Only bring them into the greenhouse if you want fruit earlier than outside

They need a period of cold weather to initiate flowering and fruiting, so leave them outside through the winter. If they're in pots you would be better to sink them into the ground.

If you are after working the soil, you could always put them in the fridge for a couple of weeks then plant them out later.
