I know a Copper Nitrate is £9-50 an hour
Seriously,
I'd think long and hard before you start using straight chemical fertilisers like these, you have to know what you are doing or you'll burn all the roots off your plants.
Depending on the purity of the Potassium Nitrate you are looking at 13 - 14% N and 44 - 46% K but if you just feed with this you will be missing loads of trace elements as well, Far better to soak a sack of sheep shi ... er manure i a water butt and use thatLast edited by nick the grief; 22-05-2007, 09:38 PM.

I work with chemicals on a day to day basis and would seriously recommend that you get rid of it at a suitable council disposal site!
In theory, if it is 100% pure, you'll get 100% N and 100% K. You'd have to mix it into the appropriate volume of distilled water to get the desired concentration. This would also have to follow EU farming guidelines (codes of good practice) to avoid a run-in with the law.
There is a hefty amount of legislation covering potassium nitrate because it is the basis of terrorist bombs, so if you're thinking of getting rid of it, let the council know and they can advise you.
It's also a bit hazardous to have around, despite being inert, if you get it with other stuff like ******, through a spill then it will explode.Last edited by Lesley Jay; 23-05-2007, 09:55 AM.

by Marb67Well I planted out all my leeks this Summer which as you can see got off to a decent start. Y ou can see the deterioration as they have become thin and wispy for absolutely no reason I can fathom. Since the latest photo was taken they have got even smaller. Some have even disappeared!
