Hi all.

It's been a while since I posted I've been sooooo busy and not enough time to do everything.

OK I got my my greenhouse up using stuff scavanged from another just need to put staging in and so I am wondering what seeds can I plant to be ready for next year?

I'm looking to grow cabbage, Celerac, fennel, parsnip, cellery, sweeds, Cauli on plot 1 next year that is the plot I started working this year and found brsicas seem to do well ther. On plot 2 I'm looking at broad beans, Runners, Toms, sweetcorn, onions, Leeks, Garlic and posibly potatoes???? also in the polytunnel I will be doing peppers and chillies and maybe Cucumbers and Aubergines.

So what can I start off over the winter in the Greenhouse, glass needs a good clean befor I do anything else

I'd have thought some of the old hands would have had some advice for a newbee with a greenhouse My RHS book has little in it with respect to planting seed in the greenhouse for this time of year.

Anyway I will check back and see what anyone can advice.

All I can say is that it is possible to get a good crop in spring in your polytunnel which will be cleared by the time you need the space for toms, peppers, aubergines and so on in the summer.
We grow spring cabbage (sown in modules in late December but preferably should be Oct or November), cauliflower plants, which we find easier to buy in February and plant out, mizuna greens, early turnips (little white chappies either round, or 'Demi long de Croissy' type), radish, and 'cima di rapa' (turnip greens), the 90 day type, for the flowering shoots like broccoli, only stronger tasting. I'd recommend all of these, along with 'Mache' or corn salad, which should also be sown now to spring use. We don't eat lettuce and chicory type greens as we don't like them much, but those can also be grown, especially winter varieties.

That has given me something to go at other ideas welcome. Both the greenhouse and the poly are unheated I have now got the staging up in the greenhouse and the poly is free for use.

Saw I can plant broad beans outside in well drained soil this is a shame as the soil is quite water retentive but this gives me an idea for ground preperation for next autum.

I have two bags of red onion sat at home can these be planted out or is ther a specific type needed for over wintering?
