setting up a new allotment

Hi,
I'm new here so bear with me please.
I have a piece of land with 3 and a half acres its mostly woodland but has a pond on it and parking area. Its just under a mile from a village. It was very neglected when I bought it 18 months ago and very wet so my partner and I got a skip hire company to land fill it and it is getting filled up lovely now. We are both retired and bought it as a hobby but the council have complained that we have a couple of caravans there and told us to move them. One caravan is converted to a chicken shed and another is for friends to have a cuppa and wash etc after working on the land(we are pulling out anything which is not biodegradeable and putting it in a separate skip to be removed so digging in rubbish and need to get cleaned up before leaving) We are moving another caravan from there that was placed for our friend who was guarding the place when we had problems with yobs stealing things and doing damage but now we are having fences put up so that caravan can go.Friends have suggested setting up allotments but not sure if I need permission from te council or not. any advice please.

Welcome to the Vine! I'm confused by your post. What did the skip hire company fill and with what? There must have been a legal pack to go with the land when you bought it. What was the land sold as? If you are not sure then perhaps you need to ask them to clarify what you can and can't do. Other that keeping chickens and siting caravans, what are you doing with the land as your post title suggests you are setting up an allotment site. Will you be renting out plots?

You might need planning permission to turn the land into allotments - what classification is the land at the moment?
