Simple answer to that one - yes. However, they can overwinter in the house (speaking from experience here!) If you live in a warm part of the country they might be okay outdoors in daytime - more experienced grapes will advise on that one!Last edited by shirlthegirl43; 29-05-2007, 09:01 PM.Happy Gardening,

IN the absence of a greenhouse MrsC2B, you could grow your chillie on the windowsill. It would be fine there. The greenhouse is only where I put them when there's no windowsill space left - but I'm a real sucker.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

The only thing I grew last year was a chilli plant on the kitchen windowsill - it virtually took over, had loads of chillis (the more we picked the more they grew) and we are still enjoying the frozen sauce. So I would say a windowsill is fine MrsC2B.Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

a sunny patio or sheltered wall to grow against will allow you to grow outdoors, and the plants benefit from better pollination by insects = more chillies . i grow them on every available space including windowsills and on warm days these also go outside.Kernow rag nevra

Have grown them inside on the window sill, in the greenhouse and outside in pots and in beds. All work fine although it's a bit cold for them outside at the moment and you have to pick a sheltered spot. There was a trial on GW last year (?) and the outdoor plants were stockier, healthier looking plants and produced loads although probably started later.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
