I put it all round my fruit bushes last year and they were amazing, pounds of fruit, and very few weeds.

Not that VC would bother but you are supposed to keep a bucket in the shed and water it down before useEndeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

I know, but I'm just so 'prim n proper' just couldn't, and the other problem is, our sheds are tiny, no room to swing a cat, or anything else.
Our sheds are council concrete ones, all joined together and the door is just big enough for wheelbarrow to get through, they must be about 1+2 mtrs!Last edited by Dorothy rouse; 03-03-2014, 08:46 AM.DottyR

But see what others say, cos as you can see from previous posts, I do things then ask advice afterwards, not always the best plan.DottyR

multi-purpose compost is too light & fluffy for raised beds. It dries out too fast in hot weather and doesn't have enough body, esp. for brassicas.
You don't need to buy topsoil, you can do what I did at school and make lasagne beds.

I felt the whole lot was a bit light and spongey so this year I might top up with a bit of top soilAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
