my present one is a good 3 miles away , which isn't too bad but not the best for nipping out to get some fresh veg ,but I have a new one just 50yds from the house , so I'm looking to get that up and going , maybe get a greenhouse on it !!! and grow more fruit etc up at my other one ,

Ours is a 5-10 minute walk or 60 seconds in the car.

The site is at the end of my road, so about 2 minutes walk, maybe? I can stand at the entrance to my estate (ok, it's a small development) and can see the gates and car park.

Short journey: 30 seconds away. 50 metres.
              Long journey: 3 minutes.

My allotment is directly behind my house and my plot is 3 across from my garden.

Can't grumble. Problem is I work until late so access is hard during the week.

Mine's about 1.5 miles away as the crow flies, but it's the other side of a busy A-road, so usually drive. That way it's just over 2 miles to get there, and journey time is traffic dependent...10 to 20 mins.

I'm on the border of 3 different boroughs and although there are a couple of much closer sites in my actual borough, it was much harder to find out if and where there were available plots/ get put on waiting lists. So my site is in the borough next door (border is one street away) and the council there could tell me how many vacancies were available at every site in the borough. A more accessible set up.

At the moment, I'm getting to the plot weekends and at least a couple of times a week, if not most days after work.
