Ants in my compost !!

I was all set to empty my compost bin today. However it seems to be one giant ants nest.
Should I spread ant powder over the top of the compost, close the lid and leave for a day or two? r

I had this problem a couple of years ago. Disturb the compost and wet it, they will move house.

Don't use ant powder. What sort of compost bin is it?

If it's a Dalek, just lift it off your heap. The ants will soon disperse.

We're having dozens of threads on this at the moment.

Ants will nest in warm dry loose soil ~ so the answer is to wet your compost (which you should do anyway: it won't rot down if it's dry).

Ants don't need to be eradicated from the garden, just let them go
If you keep fish, they'll love the eggs

I started a similar thread a year ago - Two Sheds is right, you've got to keep the pile damp/wettish and make sure it is aerated by turning it over regularly.

No ants and the rotting process is much quicker.
