  • potatoes,

hi all I think I went wrong this year,
brought all my seed potatoes in feb,
planted in march, 1st earlies 2nd earlies, and lates.
they were penland jav, international kidney, and desire..
the 1st and 2nd earlies were fab when we dug some up in june,
boiled lovely, but come the middle of july they were a mush,
I have 6 25kg bags left that are only good for roast or chips,
but I like new potaoes boiled till end of summer,
my plan for next year is to stagger the planting,
1st lot march, ready june, 2nd lot may ready july.
lates end of june ready sept oct.
    does this plan sound good,
bit disappointed I have to buy new potatoes now,
after all the work I put in, and the amount of spuds I got,
by the way my desires are still in the ground,
I think they are ready, can I leave them till sept,
and bag them up,and how long will they keep.
    thanks sam.

Desires should be fine in the ground until September unless you get blight. Kept dry and cool and dartk they'll keep until spring.

Early potatoes are renowned for being poor boilers, I always steam them. Make sure they are dry and kept in cool dark storage.
The proof of the growing is in the eating.
    Leave Rotten Fruit.
    Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potasium - potash.
    Autant de têtes, autant d'avis!!!!!
Il n'est si méchant pot qui ne trouve son couvercle.
