Obtaining bark mulch for paths

Is there anyone out there who lives in Manchester that knows where I can get free bark mulch for paths? I have tried my local council and various tree surgeons but to no avail. I don't mind travelling even a little bit further but am beginning to think that there is no where nearby...

Don't know if tree surgeons would drop at a private house for free - it's normally a HUGE pile.
