  • Brand new plot

Hi guys, right - I'm pretty new to growing, aside from pots of spinach in the garden I'm a complete newb! I've just been to see my new plot for the first time, unfortunately I forgot to take a picture in all my excitement! It's a brand new plot, so the chap who runs the site has told me all I need to do is dig everything up and add some horse manure. However, I've just bought some garlic growing bulbs that I wanted to sow. I'm guessing I can't put that in the ground with fresh horse manure?! (Sorry if I'm being dim). I'm going to do lots of reading about crop rotation and look forward to posting lots of pictures for you all to see!

Congrats on your new plot Joe.
Are you in Bristol? Just asking because another Grape took on a new plot today http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ent_82292.html
    You could be neighbours!!
It would help us answer your questions if you added your location to your profile. Weather varies so much depending on what part of the country you live in. Thanks!

If you have a choice Joe, try to go for well rotted manure. Get it from the bottom of the pile, it will be black & look just like compost & will have no smell. Fresh manure can burn certain crops, not sure about garlic though as I don't grow it.
