Potatoes chitting

Hi i left my seed potatoes in kitchen cupboard by mistake in the dark and now they have sprouted spagetti like can i just break these of and then chit them later on. Or are they ruined now? Excuse me if its a silly question thanks

Break the long sprouts off, and put them somewhere light and as cool as possible (must be frost free) and they will grow very short, green/brown, "chits" instead of the long white shoots they grow in the dark

thanks Kristen i was kinda of horrified this morning when i found them all spagetti'd up :-(
