Any new cat deterrents?

Has anyone any new ideas or seen any new cat deterrents.
I've tried most things bar expensive pellets etc.
However the dirty critters are actually pooing on top of any covering or netting I put down on my raised beds. Does the sonic thingy work?

Crush garlic and add to water, spray that and you will find it stops. You have to break the habit and the garlic smell helps

I've noticed cats tend to avoid beds with H/M compost spread on top, or with well rotted FYM spread on top. Maybe too pongy for them, and not a nice flavour to wash off paws?

I put my old compost onto my border last year,then noticed my cat had been using it like a self contained composting toilet,so it was quite tidy,easy to clean,usually he goes on the grass,which is horrible,coz I end up pulling the whole patch of grass out. But I'm glad he does it at home,not in someone else's garden! To keep him away from my veg,I have to lay sticks all around the plants (so there's nowhere for him to sit & mess)

There are now some "clones" available on E bay at greatly reduced cost, although I don't know if they are as effective as the more expensive original

Thanks for your help folks and any more suggestions appreciated. I've tried sticks,holly and old wood with nails in it, however the damn cats shuffled their backsides inbetween all I wish like Jungle Janes cat they pooped in their own gardens! (Gold star you )
Can't pin all the bits if wood etc down either. The water spray is a fab idea but I've no water source or electricity to be able to use it on my allotment. Garlic sprays a thought but won't constant contaminate the taste of stuff grown?

You could get garlic powder and mix it with fine sand to scatter on the soil, then it won't touch the plants. garlic does work - until the rain washes it away.

I live in close proximity to my neighbours, and the scarecrow water sprayer is literally the only thing that I found to work. It is noisy when it goes off though and heat waves when the sun comes up can set it off, as can hedgehogs and so on. But it does work. Without a water source I'm not sure what you can do though. . .

having had a cat and at one stag I had two, I can CATagorically say that nothing deters them. I am persecuted trying to keep my cat from lying on, or digging up my crops.I use netting but you need to put it up high above the soil so if the cat tries to walk on it it wont sag down on to the ground.
