    I have heavy clay too ,but 5 years of adding vast quantities of organic mulch have transformed most of my plot,everything from compost,manure ,cardboard ,straw mulch,woodchip and leafmold.now I rarely dig as the worms do it for me and as mentioned above you can take out a deeper drill anfill with MPC to sow into or,start things off in pots.cly soil has masses of nutrients and holds water well,particularly when mulched so don't despair.Better clay than a sandy soil which dries out quickly and doesn't hold onto its nutrients
    don't be afraid to innovate and try new things
    remember.........only the dead fish go with the flow
