  • Help with veg online order

    Hi folks,

I made an order online for some vegetable plants for my allotment. They came in clumps wrapped together (in their varieties) with a little soil in newspaper. I have never had any delivered like this before. How should I care for them till I plant them at the weekend in the allotment?

Should I wait longer before I plant them?

    Thanks

I've bought brassicas wrapped in newspaper from corner shops. Keep the paper moist until you can plant them out or pot them up if small.
A lot depends on what veg they are and how big!

I put them in smallish pots to holds them with the soil that came with them. I was hoping to plant them on Saturday. The carrots were the worst. Just seemed like a loose bundle of watercress!!

You are right to be concerned about your carrots. They are best sown direct as any root disturbance causes them to fork and grow in weird and wonderful shapes. I've no idea why garden centres sell them in trays or online nurseries would attempt to send them barerooted.
