Hello Jaime & welcome to the Jungle, excellent advice already given. What I would do regards the fire is get a spade and just scrape around the heap one or two foot wide so it's easier to contain & control. Ash is very good around fruit bushes/trees also make some ash tea for feed.

Welcome to the vine, Jaime. You are super lucky - your allotment sounds completely magical. Look forward to hearing more about it as time goes on
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Been really enjoying getting out on the allotment over the past few days, even if it's only to watch the gorgeous sunset!

Some photos from this week's work so far:

We are busy planning our bonfire for this weekend! Allotment neighbour helped to clear the spot with his petrol strimmer and my neighbour-neighbour dug out a stubborn tree for me! Feeling very lucky. Will update with more photos post bonfire. Can't wait to clear the mound of dry wood and cuttings!

A couple of photos from our bonfire this evening! All went without a hitch and the old compost mound is now much smaller and reduced to the damp soily remains, so I think it's now good to spread. Got rid of some old dead trees at the back of our garden too! Thanks for the advice all.

No slow worms, amphibians or spiky animals found much to my disappointment!
