I have 2 big sacks of spuds in there, can't bring them into my warm flat. Does anyone have any recommendations for mouse-proof storage?

Am not setting traps or putting down poison - just looking for a means of keeping them out of the spuds.
Seriously Sparrow, would you not consider getting a cat. I have a cat for the past 11 years and have never seen a mouse or a rat in my area in that time.
Well worth it I would say If you are havinf those kind of problems.

Tiny teeth marks...it could be a rat though. I live 100m from the Thames and there are plenty on the banks.

Sorry, a bit like me - no hope! Lots of disturbance, line some plastic tubs with newspapers and check often. Make sure the spuds are well dry before boxing up. I keep mine till after xmas, you just need to kep checking for the soggy ones.

It's voles for me; I know 'cos they got so caught up in an argument yesterday that they just started ignoring me. It sounded like two squeaky toys having a fight, and even when I opened the door, stared straight at them and told them to knock it off, they took no notice.

They've chewed right through my tarp as well as any flower bulbs I left on the bottom shelf. They're not so good at climbing, fortunately.

Look who I found in the GH today. At least I know who has been eating all the sweetpeas

I had some shoes for best once but found when I went to use them that mice had eaten the soles clean off them.
I'm going for a metal bin this year...

I was mad once, putting clothes in one of the kids clothes drawers there was a ton of loose gerbil food! Mouse storage. I put some mice traps down and son said "don't do that! I feed the mouse every day"

It was a mouse in my spuds. Little beggar was zipping around the garage like an Olympian as I was clearing it out.

Good for him, they are sweet if you don't have to deal with the destruction! When my kids were small we had a long sucession of pet rodents, but the only ones who wanted to play were the pet rats - one for each daughter and they went everywhere together.

My boy wanted rats, he loved the idea of training them! Though the cage size put me off. He had gerbil in the end.

I'm not sure there was too much training, but there was a lot of spoiling (grapes and gravy were favourite) and hours of giggling when they ran around inside the daughters' clothes tickling them
