Is anyone having trouble with their runner beans?

I know that the wet weather hasn't helped as it's brought the snails out in their droves, so they're getting seriously munched.

But with all this rain, I feel my beans are looking a bit "weedy".
They're not bushing out well and certainly not enough to beat snail attack.
Anyone else struggling?

Mine are doing ok, as you can see I'm in Suffolk too so am suffering the same weather! I have been mulching mine with poo and straw from the chicken run, wonder if that explains their vigour?

Mine are very slow to grow, certainly not the lush growth one would expect from this time of year. So far I have only 1 flower. Usualy the problem is not enough water, this year it's too cold.

My neighbours are struggling with snail attack too and looking almost skeletal.

Mine are slow too although I have flowers now. I fed them last night so will see if that makes a difference.

Beans are all struggling up here this year - runner, climbing French and Dwarf French. It's just been too cold and windy for them - need to improve soon though as I had one plant desperately trying to flower in the face of a north westerly gale today.
Even the Broad beans are just beginning to pod up now !

Mine are doing fine had first pickings last Friday I started mine off in the greenhouse in March & planted out early May they are now at the top of the poles(8ft)
Broard beans a good crop but finnished 2 weeks ago.

Our runner beans (very tasty too).
Deep trench, shredded newspaper, manure then soil. They are north south facing (so the wind isn't too bad) and have been watered when it didn't rain!

Mine have survived the weather and are growing well and had lots of flowers with some runners starting to develop. I wondered if the bad weather has cut down on pollination with bees not out and about, is that a possibility?

Runner beens I have been told were £4 80 a kilo on Loughborough market on Saturday.

I have a few pods forming on the runners now so I guess they will catch up, although a few still look fairly unhealthy.

My Broads have done well although they now have a fast spreading chocolate spot so going to harvest all the pods I can and blanch, cool & freeze them.

Next door to me has grown a dwarf variety of runner bean and they look fantastic. He has a huge amount of 6" long pods and has been picking for a couple of weeks. I may try these next year.

My beans have only just started flowering, then we had a severe hail storm on sunday now the leaves are like ribbons.

We direct sowed our runner beans and our climbing french beans on 12 may, and the runners are just approaching the tops of the poles and showing signs of flowers (not open yet) - but the french beans are only about 18" up their poles

my broad beans are in full pod (note to self - get them picked). Oh and there doesn't seem to be much difference between the overwintered aquathingies and the spring planted green windsors.

Supersprout's Gigantes lima beans are the most progressed of the climbers and quite a few have reached the tops of the canes.

dwarf climbers and french climbers are all staying very dwarfed (and slugged).

hestias in a pot at home are in bloom.

I have a chocolate spot on my broad beans can anyone tell me what this is? Never grown them before and thought it could be normal!!
