  • My plot in its 3rd Year

    Hi folks

Just been down this afternoon to look at my plot and ensure the recent winds haven't whisked my netting on my crops off to another country. Must say its looking in a bit of a sorry state with all todays heavy rain but everything looks ok.

Took 3 photo's I'd like to share with you all see what you think, although the soil looks heavy its a joy to dig and to do the whole plot just takes an hour. Bit of a difference when I first got it with all the Twitch grass and Dandelions in it.

In front of the wooden fence are two rows of Asparagus and in the first three small beds on the right is green manure. You can also see a row of Broad Beans and in front peas that were sown in November last year and are a hardy winter variety.

Can't wait for the weather to warm up so they start to grow more and produce flowers although with the warmer winter, worryingly some of the Broad Beans I noticed had flowers coming already.

      Hi Bigmally

I'll be posting my next pics of my plot in there, new to the forum so still trying to find my way around.

Got as neat tip about plant netting that's cheap to share with everyone once I get a minute, meant that my netting to cover my Brassicas last year which was 8m x 4m cost me a grand total of £3.96 and anyone can do it.

      I'll post it later tonight.

              Right

I think I've deffo got a single mole decided to tunnel under my Asparagus and pop up two hills in between the rows.

One of my neighbors has told me they soon move on once you start to dig your plot where they are and ruin their run so not panicking yet. If he decides to send for the rest of his relatives to join him then the dynamite will be an option.

As my next door plotter is an armed response officer in the police he might be worth being asked to threaten the blighter with the dangerous end of that black thing he carries as part of his work.

On the plus I've ordered my Bumble Bee hive for this year which is a native species known as Bombus terrestris audax, I'll take pics when its installed. plus pics of the one i've ordered to put in my garden as well.

                    Hi folks

Thought I'd post this, I bought a Camera drone last year and filmed the allotments. My plot is where the Dark Blue Renault car is parked and is briefly shown, I mainly wanted to film the whole of the allotment area.

I've just uploaded it to You Tube and I'm going to try putting it on here. Hope it works and you like the movie.

Looking good MB, wish my soil was that dark and damp
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Fascinating. What size are the plots, just out of interest.
