  • comfrey growing in my aspargus bed

can anyone suggest how to remove it ? I hand weeded the bed and gave it a good layer of mulch. I thought i'd dug it out but it's poked its leaves back through !
looking forward to any advice offered .Dal

I've given similar advice on another thread with Asparagus you can't just dig anything out because of the roots of the Asparagus you would damage.

I'd suggest using roundup on it when its got enough growth on it. Either get the gel and put it on the leaves which will kill it and not harm the Asparagus or get the concentrate, wearing a rubber glove wet it with the roundup and stroke the plant which will wet the leaves and kill it. Both methods take effect after a couple of weeks when the plants just collapses and the roots are killed as well.

For bindweed place a cane next to the weed and let it grow up the cane, do a similar thing with roundup to kill the pest.

I don't like using weedkiller but for a way of removing weeds without digging and not killing the plants next to it that is the best way to do it.
