I think a tsp of professional colour paste like sugar flair, usually around £2 for a large jar, would colour the water in the butt enough to raise eyebrows...certainly enough to dye eyebrows

Or how about Woad...nice flowers, scary blue dye and if it's not enough for your butt you can paint your face blue and run round the allotment pretending to be braveheart....that would definitely keep people away from your plot lol.

----- love the way everybody's minds are working -----

Can just picture the 'men in white coats' rolling up, leaping out of their van, armed with straight jacket - bundling aforementioned blue-faced, trilling nutter into back of van - and zooming off into the night .......

Whilst the water-butt thief sneakily watches on further down the plot ............

Are they dipping the butt or putting a hose on it? If they are adding a hose why not stuff something up the tap out of sight so it runs slow or not at all.

What about stretching clingfilm over the top of the butt like the toilet trick?

Just imagine if us grapes had allotments all on the same site there just wouldn't be enough 'men in white coats' to go around

They'd just lock the gates while we were inside and throw us doughnuts

Well blow me down with a feather. I finally got down the plot today after a busy week with the kids and the plot next to me has taken it upon themselves to use my bricks that are waiting for my shed to stand on!

It's becoming increasingly apparent that I need to get my shed built with a lock in place asap. I'm starting to wonder if my veg will go wandering once it's time to harvest!! I ain't happy!

I just took them and left them a couple of slugs from my plot in return. I hope they enjoyed their lettuce!

That's outrageous! Did they think you wouldn't notice. Without meaning to sound rude but is it obvious that your plot is being used?

                                WOW!
Liberty taking is rife on your site Mr Bloom!
I take it they know the plot is taken?
                                (how shall I put this...)

                                Is your grass very long?
Does your plot look a little bit...*cough*...derelict?

Because if not, I think I might be having a bit of a sense humour failure if I were you, and someone would be learning a use for bricks they''d never previously dreamt of
