too late for potatoes?

Hi, i have just recently acquired an allotment and it wasn't in too bad shape, so after a couple of days of elbow grease i can actually start planting some things in it, i am a novice where potatoes are concerned tho, this is one of the reasons i got an allotment because it wasn't feasible to grow potatoes at home, so my question is am i too late to plant potatoes? if not can any recommend a variety suitable for planting this time of year?

You'd still have time to grow first earlies but blight would be a bigger risk than usual.
