  • Broccoli/Cauliflower problem

Planted out Broccoli(Marathon) & Cauliflower(All year round). Broccoli seemed OK and first heads were fine, cauliflower only grew to 2" high. Broccoli now falling over and can be lifted out of ground with no effort. On both roots there are very small white insects. Any ideas? And how to get rid of this pest?

Thanks for the reply. Had a look, you could be correct. The maggots on my plants are only about 1-2mm long though. Looks like best thing to do is leave for this year and apply nemasys before planting next year.

You could put brassica collars around the base stem of the plant, you can get them from the garden centre or make your own, they're little circles of strong material to stop the fly from laying eggs.
