I've grown melons for the first time in a cold frame on my allotment. I've only got 4, one which is nearly full size and the others are probably only about half size. My concern whether it is too cold at night for them to grow to full size? Or should I cut the largest and see if it ripens at home? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Too cold for melons?

Can't really help. My melons are maybe the size of tennis balls. Only managed to grow a couple in an unheated GH.
They're not too big, but they are perfectly formed and look fantastic.
I don't think mine will be getting any bigger now. Temps seem to have dropped and daylight hours are noticeably shorter.
I'd probably go for getting your melon indoors to be honest - but I'm no expert so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along with some more definitive advice.sigpic
1574 gin and tonics please Monica, large ones.
