Hi everyone

Just thought I would introduce my wee allotment. It is based in Glasgow, inside the luscious Pollock Park. Received the allotment keys 2 weeks ago and have been smiling ever since. My plot is about 10m X 10m with a lovely leaky shed. People have been very welcoming and full of advice. As the title indicates I am new to the allotment world and looking forward to the ups and downs that growing my own will bring.
At the moment I am trying to deal with the overgrowth of marestail/horsetail, replacing the rotted fence and patch up the shed.

This forum seems a fantastic resource to seek help and advice, and as my mum always said if you don't know ask...

Well, I've seen worse sheds. Scratch that I HAVE worse sheds.

Looks like there's already a few raised beds in. Do you know what those shrubs/bushes are? I spy a blue barrel hiding behind the shed - can't be a proper allotment without a blue barrel although if that end bit is a compost bin it looks like it's attached to the end of the shed which isn't good.

Anything lurking in the shed of interest (I found dolphins in mine)?

You'll be able to get lots of advise on here - all of it conflicting of course, some of it dubious, and one or two bits impossible without a stepladder and troupe of acrobats.

Have you given any thoughts on what you want to grow - seed catalogues are out and Santa is getting his shopping list together. Of course anything Santa does bring you, you'll want in a BIG box - that way you can use the cardboard to cover empty beds.

Oh and yes, I agree with VC that we like photos here.

Welcome stuffys - it's been a while since I ventured into the 'Pollock Free State'.

The plot looks great - and will be even better once you batter into it over the Autumn/Winter months.

There's still time to get overwintering onions, garlic, peas and broad beans in if you wanted to.

Of course not putting them in now gives you more time to design, plan and work out crop rotation in the spring without having a standing crop in the way.
