Sick of waiting!

Does anyone know if it is possible to private rent an allotment?

The baby is destroying my seedlings and with her having asd there is no understanding to keep off the boarder etc.

There isnt a way I can divide it off so Im thinking I may have to give it up for a while, but in the mean time I would like to have an allotment but Ive been on the list for nearly 6 year!

any ideas guys?

If you've emailed the website that Bren posted, it says at the end that the site moderator can't be contacted by email.
Have you been to the allotments where you would like a plot and asked around? The direct approach often works best.

Definitely do this, it worked for me too. Round here, late morning on a weekend is the best time to catch the regulars who nearly always know how the land lies.

Pester them

ask if you can help when they have work parties etc, turn up in person and ask at the weekend how soon you can get a plot

You could try advertising if someone has any garden space to rent or to share. Often people get too old or too busy for gardening and they might be glad for someone to grow stuff on their land instead of letting it go wild.

As others have already said, maybe at the allotments you're waiting for whoever manages the list is the best person to contact.

I have the waiting list data for sites round here. There's one that has 50+.
The rest don't. Some had empty plots. Something we have sorted out recently by a great article in the paper!

So why does this one have such a huge list?

They reckon they prune it out when they ring but who actually knows.

If there's a huge demand they should be pushing the council for extra land but they don't, and they say there's no money for it. Which is a nonsense excuse for not pushing for extra land.
