  • Under cloches?

I planted some late courgette plants which have now got proper leaves in (in about 10 days from sowing )

They're currently in my unheated g/house, but I was wondering, if I plant them out, should I use plastic-bottle-cloches until they are a bit bigger?

I think it depends upon your slug/snail situation. I would risk it because they'll grow quite quickly.
You also have to consider whether they're going to get too hot.

It depends on how big your bottle cloches are - courgettes romp away so quickly in warm weather, they may only be suitable for a few days. Down here, it is so mild I woudn't bother. I sowed some late ones last week and they've just been outside in pots.

I find the slugs a problem when the leaves are soft and lush....as the leaves get older they get though and prickley! they even hurt my hands when weeding round them!
        Does that help at all????
