For the first time ever my Jerusalem artichokes are being eaten by squirrels. I dug some up from a disused plot and kept them in two 8" plant pots only to find every one had been eaten overnight. I then see a squirrel digging into the soil trying to get at others I had planted but giving up on the root as they were set in deep, settling on eating the new shoots showing above soil level.
I then cover these with plastic mesh anchored in well enough but the blighter burrowed under the mesh.
This has caused no end of anxiety so what am I to do?
