    It's mostly leeks and parsnips now, VC. About half the bed is empty, yes, but I put winter-y stuff in the gaps for now... a few kales as the moment. Frankly I can't grow much between about Oct and March anyway, because the ground's too waterlogged.

    For this particular bed, it was/will be:-
    2016 - brassicas
    2017 - onions, leeks and roots
    2018 - potatoes

      Mines just a comment on the original plan - onions & roots followed by manure followed by potatoes not your specific crops, 1Bee.
      Maybe farmers have the time to let a bed rest under manure over winter, I dunno? I'm just glad that my random gardening doesn't involve much planning

        I will throw one in here.

        If you are growing in raised beds and top it up with six inch or more of compost or soil every season, why not grow the same thing in the same place. It's new growing medium.
