It is an incredibly unfair and unfortunately position to be in.

If you've only had it for a month and you've done a lot of work - then be thank full it's not more months work.
It sounds like you're being pushed off it - it would be interesting to see what their signed tenancy says.

It does make me want to map ID plots when we sign people up now but that offers little help to you.

That's exactly why all our allotment sites have numbered plans on-line, so no possible confusion.

I would say you have all the evidence in the world to stipulate that this is your plot, tenancy agreement, plot number even a sight map indicating which plot you have been awarded by the afore mentioned council!

No court in this land could go against that!

But! and it's a big but!

As others have said, I really wouldn't want to be setting off into allotmentering knowing I have ruffled a few feathers,

Allotments can actually be a rough game!

I really, really hope you can come to some compromise, because believe me, having an allotment is an haven!

Firstly, thanks everyone for the replies - really helpful and good to know everyone seems to be a friendly bunch here

That's the funny thing - our council offer online (and send over a paper version of) mapped plots, so I have literally no idea how they started working the wrong plot - it's exactly that which makes me think they've just 'chosen' a better plot for themselves!

Unfortunately I haven't heard back from the council yet - I emailed them yesterday evening to say we want to stay on plot 2 as we've got the tenancy agreement for it (the other plots are literally like they've been unworked ever - absolutely covered in long grass and trees and some have even had waste dumped on them!).

I do agree that the other people will have probably put work in (it really doesn't look like a year's worth) but the sign saying plot 4 was literally taken from their plot and moved to 'ours' - we looked at the sign today and it's a home-made fence panel they'd taken from their own fence and moved to 'ours'!

Looks like they've been down there and moved some of our stuff (not off plot, but just moved the tools around etc) so I expect this will come to a head soon. I don't like confrontation or having an argument but we've been waiting ages for a plot and the only other ones available are actually worse than nothing (trust me!)

You certainly seem to have got it in context...must admit I'd be taking a similar/same view as you.
I Entirely agree with the 'Do'nt fall out Brigade but also remember , you are in the right.

I'm sure other GENUINE plot holders on your site will back you up......what would they feel/think if somebody came along and changed numbers on their plot and tried to claim it as theirs just because the number on the post ( which they had changed)..!!

Good Luck OTCB, I hope this results in a reasonable descision

As you have decided what to do and need no further help in the matter I will close this thread from any further comments.

Please come back and let us know the outcome.
