  • Allotments in Edinburgh: someone to share

    Hia,

there is a long waiting list for allotments in Edinburgh.

A friend of mine, who is disabled and partly uses a wheelchair, is keen to share her allotment with somebody with a bit more time and dedication and her plot is big and beautiful. She is very easy-going. PM me if you want contact details.

Oh, and by the way here is the website for the

    Federation of Edinburgh Allotment Plotters.
    http://www.fedaga.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

Our virtual allotment site with pics:
    http://ferryroadallotments.squarespace.com/

Most of them are run and let by the Council, but there are also some independent sites - see FEDEGA list and contact details.

    Council website:
    http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/internet..._an_allotment_

selected sites have a waiting list of 11 years, waiting list stands at about 900, average waiting time is about 5 years.

      Hi Ulla,

I wish I was a bit closer and I would grab the chance. You are only about an hour from me and it is very tempting, but being honest I would probably only get there once a week and that would not be fair.

Good luck, I hope you find someone suitable, Mandy

Hiya, not sure if your friend is still looking for help. I'm in the Ferry Road/Inverleith area and would be willing to help with some weeding and watering. Available regularly as I'm usually out and about with my pooch.Been waiting over a year now for an allotment and itching to get my hands dirty.

            Kat xx

hi, my name is Paul and by chance looking for an allotment to rent in Edinburgh I seen your ad.I would like to know if this is still available? my passion is gardening, I grew up looking after gardens for the elder friends of my grandfather in a local village in the borders.I moved to Edinburgh with my partner nearly 6 years ago luckily into a flat with a garden, which had been left to grow wild for years but that for me was as I looked at it a project that I would love and after a whole summer I turned it around to a beautiful garden full of vegetables, herbs, flowers and also a lovely place to sit on nice days.since I moved home nearly 3 years ago due to us having children needing a larger flat i had to give up the garden as choice for flats with gardens a very limited i have been trying unsuccessfully to find an allotment.please could you let me know if this wonderful opportunity is still available as this would be something I would love to do.thanks
                  PM me please.
                  Paul

Carrots, that original post is over 5 years old. In any event, do you really want to pay over £100 for a plot?

Further to that ^^ it is not really a good idea to post personal details (phone/email) on public forums there are spam bots out there looking for that sort of information also Ulla has not even logged onto the forum since 31-05-2008 so it would be a safe bet it is no longer available

                            Hi,
I saw your request for a companion gardener for your friend and would be grateful if you could let me have some further information re your friend, site etc. I am a 58 year old woman (Madge) who has no garden and really miss the connection with the earth. I am interested in starting a herb/healing plant garden and would love to hear from you.
                            Many thanks,
                            Madge.
