Here in MK we are fairly lucky that while a new town, we still retain the open land of our rural heritage and this includes many allotment sites throughout the area.
Some of the sites are fully occupied but on my site for instance, we have approx 150 10 pole plots, of which I would estimate about half are occupied.
We enjoy ample standpipes to serve where ever you are on the site, are able to erect sheds greenhouses or poly tunnels and are authorised to keep chickens or ducks if you wish.
While we have had some problems or vandalism and theft, on the whole the site is reasonably secure and the council say (must be near election time again) that they are going to try and beef up security.
There are now a lot of younger families taking plots and it's good to see the little ones working away and playing on the family plots.
The council are also willing to let smaller plots for those who do not have the time to wrestle with a full sized monster.
Generally the plot holders are friendly and helpful.
So what's to stop you, contact either the main council or the town/parish councils and see what's available.
