ok went back for another look
1/3rd of the plot is useless trees
1/2 is weeds and rubble and rubbish thats been dumped on there by other plot holders - will need a skip to clear best part of 3ft of rubbish - underneath which will be lots of tree roots ....
and the rest is the "compost bin" area ....

Awwwww, you must be gutted, but the hard work will be worth it in the end. What about asking fellow allotment holders/friends/neighbours to a "dig fest" with the promise of a BBQ/picnic/few beers at the end of the day/weekend? If it were me, I'd take it, as when you spread the cost over a year, its only a couple of quid a week at the most for something that will pay you back tenfold with pleasure
