Does anyone know anything about allotments in Marple, near Stockport?
Are there any, how long's the waiting list, what's the rent, and so on?

I think you said that the council in Ashton wanted to find tennants for all 100 plots before they would open them up?
If so that's ridiculous; they have got themselves a chicken and egg situation

Perhaps they could be persuaded to let out some, say 30, then give the project a year or two while news filters out into the local community. Councils are not reknowned for their dynamic publicity and communication

yeah, i'm gonna ring them today, and see what's happening, i also thought about ringing the tameside advertiser, and telling them about it, i'm sure theres lots of people would give it a go if they saw that there are places available ....... but like me previously, if you have never thought about an allotment, you wont think to look. i really want to get going on the allotment in spring .... i want to get my front garden looking pretty next year lol
