In SE19 you could try Bromley. Or the site at Gypsy Hill (ifit is still open).

Having done some intensive googling this evening I have discovered some allotments on Biggin Hill so I am going to get in touch with them. - edit - I just discovered the information I found for them is very old and the email address doesn't work.
Some others a little further a field which I discovered:
Forster Road in Beckenham which is about 10 minutes drive but I have can't find any details at the moment.
Park Hill in south croydon which is about 15 minutes drive but there list is quite long.
Rosendale allotments but their list was at 450 last year so I would imagine it's significantly longer now.
The maberly road allotments are about 10 minutes walk from me but there seems to be confusion about who owns them or what their policy is. I have emailed an address I found on the web.
There are allotments near Norbury park but I can't find any details at all on these ones.
That's my lot for now. I can't believe I have gone to all this effort and I am nowhere near getting an allotment.

funstuie - i did give a link which had info on other allotments, would have saved you a lot of googling .......
and like i said above (and in a reply which doesn't seem to be here now), there are huge waiting lists for allotments in croydon - you just have to be patient, even if it's a wait of 3 or 4 years
croydon council will put you on their lists for their allotments, but don't expect any effort or straight answers from them - they will offer allotments when they become free, but other than that, they don't bother looking at the lists to tell you how far up the list you are etc - you still need to be on their lists to get an allotment with them ......

Thanks Farmer Gyles for the link last year but the london allotment network's information is very out of date or there is nothing of help on there.
The lists on Croydon councils website lists some of the allotments but with no information or links to site which don't exist or are years out of date.
I really appreciate all of the advice on here and I realise there is massive lists on most allotment sites and I know I need to be patient but I have read of people getting an allotment just by getting in touch (this guy for example) and I am trying to find out about all the allotments close by and information about them.
I started looking a year ago but I focused on the closest allotment to me (spa hill and maberly) but both these turned up nothing.
I am now looking a little further out but I don't want to go any further than 10/15 minutes drive as it then becomes a bit of a hassle to get to of an evening. I want to get on as many lists as I can in hope that something comes up. As I said I would gladly take something which needs work.
Croydon council have been useless in all honesty.

if anyone is keeping tabs I talked to the secretary of biggin hill allotments tonight and she said they have a massive waiting list which she can add me to but I should not expect anything for at least 3 years.
Oh and I talked to someone at Croydon council (I decided to follow up from last year) and I am on their list for Orchard avenue but they reckon the list if 8 years!!! for that one.
I am about ready to give up now.

Orchard Avenue is just a tennis court turned into 8 plots.
Have you contacted AWSLG at Glenthorne Avenue Croydon we have 30 on the list but over 400 plots so it wont be too long.My phone has more Processing power than the Computers NASA used to fake the Moon Landings

I think I have now exhausted all avenues for getting an allotment nearby now.
I am on the list at Maberly (3 years +), Bigging Wood (3 to 4 years), Spa Hill (5 years +)
I am waiting to hear back from Norbury Park Allotments and Forster Road and Bensham Manor Allotments all have waiting lists so I will probably go onto to those as well.
On Saturday I am going to pop down to Glenthorne Avenue to have a chat and see about getting on the list. And visit Enmore road to have a look round.
On Sunday I am meeting one of the folk at Selhurst but I am not too sure why as she said the list is huge but to drop down anyway.
That's me done. I have now contacted all the allotments I can find in a 15 minute radius from my house. I don't really want to go over that as it will become a bit of a hassle to get to in the evenings. Also I would like to be within a short bike ride.
So there you go folks in London allotments are in very short supply. I am going to waiting a few years more at least (which I expected but I was hoping someone would have an overgrown plot that no one would take).
You are probably all sick of me by this stage.
