Allotment WANTED in Eckington South Yorkshire/Derbyshire

i've just rang the parish council to find out about having an allotment in my area and i have been told there is a 2 1/2 year waiting list.... Can you believe that!

But me and my partner have visited some of the allotments in the area and there are loads that are not been used at all and have not been used in years.

Is there anyone in the area that would like to share with me or are thinking of giving up there current allotment.

I've grown my own this year and i wanted an allotment last year but didn't have the time to sort it out but i need an allotment to grow what i want next year

please help me.....

Go to the site and talk to people there, sometimes if you say you are willing to take on any plot no matter what the condition you get it. Keep on to the council, some area's have a longer waiting list.

Try Sheffield City Council apparently there's a site (not a v. good one though) at Eckington with loads of free plots. See the thread 'I couldn't believe my eyes', in the Allotment Advice section here.
