      i dont know whats happenin
the council say that all the other plots are taken but there isnt anyone been near
im told they are just waiting for council to put the big fence up they promised
supposed to be about 6 to 8 foot high to stop people gettin on to land
but i cant see people paying rent for something they cant use lol

it would be good to get people down there we could start some sort of gardning club like they have at other sites
wher you can swapp seeds plants and information and prob pool together to buy stuff
like compost and top soil and the likes but cant do that on own lol
dont take for granted that you hold dear
for once its gone you will miss it
      and thats to late

been intouch with council they say they gonna fence off the area at millbrooke
they still say people got sites but i still think they have not so if anyone want one ring them and ask for garden plot not allotment as there are no allotments in darwen area there all classed as garden plots
this i think is so they dont have to provide water
but not a prob at lower darwen coz got runnin water called the river lol
also was thinkin about gettin a little club thing together for the people in blackburn darwen area where we could get together and swapp information about growing and maybe also swapp seeds and things some allotments already have this but there are some who dont like me i cant get info off myself andswap things with myself and im sure others in same boat
please let me know your thoughts on this
        steve

be careful steve, setting up a group or society is a very time consuming thing and a huge responsibility........why not just make an informal suggestion for the first few times, spreading the word through the vine or mouth, that it might be nice to hve a gathering, discussing seeds, tips etc........then maybe introduce the idea of a group etc.......any help you want, I can advise, having a lot of experience.

          Good luck with the lottie

Erm, just a thought - and I don't want to be a wet blanket or anything - but isn't there a rule about removing water from a river? Something to do with the Rivers Authority and I have a feeling that if you are caught you can be prosecuted. I seem to remember during the drought many years ago, that some of our local people were taking out the river water which ran at the bottom of their garden and they got into trouble. I might have dreamt that bit of course!! Perhaps somebody in the know can put me right. Wouldn't want you to get into trouble after all your hard work.!!

knowing the water authority the prob would prosecute
but they dont like you collecting water in water butts either so its a loose loose situation
suppose i could bribe them with a few veggys lol
not that i would coz that be wrong as well
so i just have to do what i do at moment and take water from my house lol in car although car is starting to smell of stagnant water now lol

                  Hi all
I've been on the waiting lists for eight years and still no allotment or shoud I say garden plot !!! most of the plot holders I have spoken to seem to have worked for the council at some point , and I've even been told by some of them to get a job at the council.
( It will help) I've been next on the list for a plot before then when you phone up again you have moved back down the list again.
If the council have six plot on a site and get six cheques in for the six plots that it job done , they don't care if its used or not ,they don't even know where they are, some plots have not been used for twenty years they say that they are being used as wild gardens.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ve also been looking a the allotment act and there seems to be no time scale
for the council to setup an allotments , once you get your six people , they could take as long as they like

Hi green thing. Are you on any lists for any specific site? I've just rung the council about Stephen with a P's plot. There's no movement on that list, I'm still 3rd on that one. Are you on the Millbrook Street list? There are actually only 2 allotments there at present with a possibility of 2-3 more being brought back into use. They need fencing off from the public and is supposed to be being developed by the council.

In responce to doing something and getting the numbers up and hopefully getting BwD council to do something about the obvious non existence of allotment site's in Darwen and there not being enough in Blackburn to meet demand, I'm all up for helping out in any way that i can. I have put my name down on a few site's and the minimum wait is about 12 month's although going of the amount of people on the waiting list this seems a bit optamistic to me.

wasnt on list i was offered coz mine got vandalised after 12month of hard work
previous to that i was on waithing list for allotment for 10years to be honest
now teak street as far as i know is run by a site secatary who is usually there on sunday mornings between 10 and 11 am
if you wanted to visit him and see if there are any available plots on there and wheter he can allocate you one but be prepared for hard work brambles are a big problem till you cut them down but once that done its brill and the people are friendly as well but you need to see this secatary first
dont take for granted that you hold dear
