Does anyone know of an allotment near Wetherby?

Hi,
I'm new to this site, and I wondered if anyone might know of any allotments near Wetherby. I've just moved to the area and have tried the local council, to no avail. I'm keen to find any private allotments that are available, but I don't know how to find them. It would be great if anyone has any suggestions or a contact number so that I can sign up and start growing veg again soon.

Best thing is to get out and walk around.
Have a look at Wetherby on Google maps: look for areas of undeveloped land that may well be allotments (or parks). wetherby - Google Maps
Talk to people in your area: ask the 'old boys' who've always lived there.

how far do you want to travel? our site in LS8 has only 1 on the waiting list and i think they will be offered a half plot in the next few weeks, we are also hoping that the neglected half of the site will be cleared by the council in the next few months. PM if youre interested

Thanks for the replies, and advice. I shall start exploring the area soon to see if I can find any land and I shall look on Google maps too, thanks Two sheds.
Thanks also Hans Mum for the info about the allotment in Leeds, it's a bit further than I wanted to travel, but I shall certainly consider applying if I can't find anything nearer.

Would you be interested in a garden share scheme. I have an area of my garden which my father in law used to grow loads of veg. Unfortunately he passed away and the area is now neglected and overgrown. I would be happy to see the area growing veg again. There is nothing nicer than going out every evening and picking fresh produce! It is very central in Wetherby.

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread for over a month, so didn't see your message. I would be interested in finding out more about the garden share if it's still available. It seems a shame for the area to go to waste and I'd love to fill it with veg!

The Parish Council has a number of allotments on land at Primrose Hill, off Westwood Way, but these are all fully let at the moment and there is currently a waiting list. The Council is trying to find some additional land that might be converted to allotments. If you would like to put your name on the waiting list please contact the Clerk

Doesn't say how long the 'shortest person' has been on the list - or for that matter how long or short all the people on the list are.

I goggled T'net for a good hour but there is very little info on Wetherby. Maybe cos it's an affluent area & can afford to buy all their veg...................these were the only bits of info I could find but the OP may find them usefull.
