Allotments in Chester..?

Hi All

Been waiting a few years now, and keep getting the same reply from my local council...yes, you have moved up the list, but I am still 12th...dont think I will ever have one again, as I did years ago...its getting harder to get one. Does anyone that might be from around my area have any info on plots that might be coming available..?..its a long shot I know, but worth a try.

I have an allotment in Chester. I'm on the Whipcord Lane site. I'm sure there are plots free on that site, although the ones that are vacant need a fair bit of work on them, as did ours when we took it up. It may not be close to you though, and it's a bit basic, but it does have water. best of luck in your search.

Evening Braders,
I was notified just before Christmas that I have a half plot on the Whitchurch Road allotments after waiting for five years.
I have been down there most days to get the plot ready for this season and not seen anyone on the other five half plots yet.
Talking to some of the plot holders already there, they say that the plots have been empty for at least two to three years.
Makes you wonder about the waiting list doesn't it.

Just spotted your post and felt I should reply,

I too am 12th and 26th on two lists for an allotment in chester, Whipcord lane and Sealand road. I am alittle miffed at the fact some allotments are empty/overgrown when their are people on the list potentially keen to keep the site tidy and in control. Maybe now CCC is CWAC things might change, but I guess it comes down to money if people are paying yet not cultivating a plot are the council bothered?

I was so close to digging up my garden last weekend to start growing my own but guess I will just wait - I can believe you have been on the list for 5 yrs. and not got a plot. I moved up both lists from bottom to the middle within 6 months! so I am hopefull I will have an allotment by the end of the year, maybe too hopeful.

Does anyone have an allotment in chester they want to share?

When I lived in Chester I was lucky enough to have two allotments in Hoole. Hope the site is still there...it's HUGE

hey i'm in chester and i've been told i have 6 years to wait my neighbour has just got one after waiting for years... i'm unfortunate enough to not have my own house with my wife (we just dont earn enough and the council dont think we deserve to have a house) but my mum let me use part of her garden :-), i was thinking of contacting the land owner of the field that used to be used for growing strawberries located next to the kings school and ask whether they were intrested in setting up private allotments. was thinking also if cwac can afford £20 million to relocate 500 meters to become "more central" in the city; then they can afford a bit of brown belt land which surrounds most of the south side of the river

The new unitary authority seem to be having a bit of a shake-up - I believe that some eviction notices are being sent out and plot leasing is being reviewed. Apparently some plots that were free had been put down as leased and they are now in the process of sorting these all out.

Juts a quick update I now have a plot on the Saughall Road Site, needs a little work and no chance of growing anything until next year but it will give me time to get to know the plot.
