  • Alotment in or near swadlincote derbyshire

My girlfriend and I are looking for an allotment as near to Swadlincote Derbyshire. I have contacted the local allotment association and no joy the waiting list is as long as your arm.

    Any help would be great.

    Hi

They have closed the list of allotments in South Derbyshire. They closed them last summer, as the list was far too long.

Have you asked around about private sites, we have a few and they seem to change hands far quicker...i suppose they have more axe wielding authority if they get out of hand.

Also, go and scope out the actual plots....I daresay that not all plots are worked [we have 10 on our village waiting list and at least 10 could be made available and are currently unworked].

Sorry but i am a bit new to this but what do you mean by private sites? Might go and have a look at the plots they are so close I can see them from the upstairs window.

Private sites are sites run outside of the council...owned by private landowners and leased out...privately.

Best thing to do is to ask around.

There are some in Whitwick/Thringstone I don't know who runs them though It might be North West Leicestershire Council.

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I think they are the Coalville side of Whitwick.

What? Two GYO peeps from Swad??? I'm originally from Woodville, but live in London now.

My dad used to have a plot in Hartshorne a few years ago.

Thornborough road in Coalville, between Church lane and the McDonalds Roundabout. Left hand side as you head towards C'ville. Don't know if the have any free plots, but that's where they are.
