  • Any interest in an allotment in Aberdeenshire?

I was speaking to a chap at the council today who deals with allotments. On their website they have available plots listed in Johnshaven, Gourdon and Inverbervie but, unfortunately this information is incorrect and the sites don't exist.

The gentleman was very helpful and when I mentioned that I was a member of a gardening forum he asked if other members might be interested new allotment sites in South Aberdeenshire. He has been given the task of sourcing sites and the more interest there is the more this may help to push things forward.

If you are keen PM me and I will pass on his email address.

Oh Amanda, that's very disappointing for you. I hope they can find something for you.

      Thanks Alice.

On the upside, our Village Community Association have just asked me if I would be willing to open our garden for the Village Open Gardens Weekend in July. It starts off at the Village Hall with resfreshments, people are then given a map and are then free to visit the participating 10 or so gardens. It's a really fun weekend and I'm really chuffed to have been asked as last year was my first gardening - I'm off to break it to the dogs that the lawn is off limits for pee breaks.

That's brilliant Amanda. You must be so chuffed to have been asked. Well done you and what a lovely idea the village garden open weekend.
We have one neighbour who opens his garden one sunday a month for charity. It's always very well attended and he raises lots of money.
I might put your open gardens idea to our community group as there are plenty of lovely gardens round here. Mine won't qualify for about another 2 years.
Maybe the dogs could have a sand pit for their pee breaks.

My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

            Imagine my surprise!

Hey - I was just e-mailing a contact within the Aberdeenshire Council re allotments (more than likely the same person) in Kincardine & Mearns. There seems to be a possibility that given enough interest there could be an avenue to go down regarding sourcing ground for growing.

I am due to move to Laurencekirk area in June/July from the city - so another project like an allotment would be great!!

Hopefully be able to discuss +ve news soon!!!
