Manor Garden Allotments VS 2012 Olympics petition

There is a big non-gardening world out there..
.... and for quite some time the business part of it has been up in arms about long standing businesses located on the Olympic site being turfed off and offered less than the relocation costs. i.e less than equivalent premises would cost nearby, never mind increased costs and employee travel costs.
United we stand, divided they pick us off.Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.

There is also another petition for more land to be made available for allotments if anyone is interested.

Signed the Manor Gardens petition today.
This sounds like another Millenium Dome fiasco. The only people who will benefit are bankers and the like who will cream the lot. I think the true cost of the Olympics has been carefully hidden and the advantages made very glossy.Last edited by Digger-07; 12-01-2007, 05:08 PM.Digger-07

"Manor Gardens Allotments is a 1.8 hectare site on the east marshes of Hackney. It’s a wedge of land between the River Lea and Bully Point Nature Reserve – and right in the middle of the 2012 Olympic site. "
Do you think he would get involved?

Any chance of 'stickying' this OP on the OTT/Chichat thread? I didn't see it on here and only realised about it through an email from kitchen_gardens email list.
Given the current climate you'd think the govt. wouldn't want to be seen bull-dozing allotments?Last edited by smallblueplanet; 14-01-2007, 04:54 PM.To see a world in a grain of sand
